EnviroMission Solar Tower Wins SCPPA Approval

October 27, 2009

PHOENIX, Oct. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- EnviroMission Limited (Pink Sheets: EVOMY) US power purchase negotiations to deliver the first of two, 200 MW Solar Tower power stations, have been given the green light from Southern California Public Power Authority (SCPPA).

Solar Tower power station developments planned for Arizona have been approved by SCPPA as suitable renewable energy projects to facilitate the goals of its members' renewable portfolio standards (RPS).

This landmark SCPPA decision will enable EnviroMission to formalize power purchase agreements with a large public power authority in the Southern California region to realize an essential element of the commercial basis for development.

The resolution passed by the SCPPA board of directors will position EnviroMission's Solar Tower technology as the only solar electricity generation technology to date to qualify for further future power purchase negotiations for the supply of centralized power - EnviroMission was selected from more than 100 submissions to a SCPPA request for proposals (RFP).

SCPPA approval provides EnviroMission with a vital market opportunity to negotiate the future sale of Solar Tower power to a key power authority to meet its renewable energy portfolio standard that is aimed at generating 20% of all electricity from renewable resources by 2010.

SCPPA Executive Director, Bill Carnahan, said "EnviroMission's Solar Tower technology promises to make a major contribution to our members' portfolio requirements for the long-term supply of renewable energy.

"SCPPA expects to achieve full subscription in the EnviroMission Project and anticipates that, upon full subscription that the power purchase negotiations will lead to agreements to be executed for the procurement of centralized solar power."

EnviroMission Chief Executive, Mr. Roger Davey, welcomed the SCPPA decision as "confirmation of EnviroMission's unique technology proposition."

"Solar Tower technology will generate clean, green, sustainable power that will not produce emissions or use of water in the power generation process.

"EnviroMission Solar Tower technology is ideally suited to meet requirements of the SCPPA renewable energy portfolio standard, particularly in environmentally sensitive arid and semi-arid regions of the SCPPA market where water resources for power generation are limited or under pressure" said Mr. Davey

SCPPA is a joint public power authority consisting of 11 municipal utilities and one irrigation district.

SCPPA members deliver electricity to approximately two million customers across 7,000 square miles to a population of nearly five million people.

SCPPA members include the municipal utilities of the cities of; Anaheim, Azusa, Banning, Burbank, Cerritos, Colton, Glendale, Los Angeles, Pasadena, Riverside, Vernon, and the Imperial Irrigation District. In the fiscal year 2007/2008 SCPPA reported net annual revenues of more than US $450,000,000 and approximately US $2.4 billion in total assets.

SCPPA approval is subject to the achievement of full subscription in the project by SCPPA members, and to the negotiation of a definitive power purchase agreement and approval by the governing boards and City Council's of the SCPPA members electing to participate in the Project.
