Latvenergo subsidiaries Elektrum Lietuva and Elektrum Eesti have launched construction of new solar farms in Klaipeda County, Lithuania, and Marjamaa Parish, Estonia, which both will have over 5,000 solar panels, as Latvenergo representative Ivita Bidere told LETA.

The solar park in Klaipeda County will have an area of more than four hectares and have a capacity of 15 megawatts (MW). There will be 4,410 solar panels in the park, and they will produce enough electricity for 600 households.

In Marjamaa municipality, a 250 kW solar park will be built with 1,000 solar panels. Both solar farms will be put into operation in the first quarter of 2021.

Latvenergo Sales Director Uldis Mucinieks points out that the rapid progress in solar panel sales allows Latvenergo to call itself one of the leading solar panel sellers on the Baltic market, and this is a position that the company wants not only to maintain but also to strengthen in the future.

Latvenergo is doing a lot to educate customers about the use of solar power, and the company is constantly improving its range of products, said Mucinieks.

"Naturally, the time has come to diversify our solar power services, so that in the future, in addition to the amount of green energy from hydroelectric power plants, we can also be proud of electricity produced at our solar parks," added Mucinieks.
