A boom in business has a local logistics company more than doubling its warehouse space.

A surge in business seen by a Jacksonville company that handles imported renewable energy technology has the warehousing and logistics company looking to expand.

Global Conveyance Consulting Group will more than double its warehousing space in the coming months, CEO Joe Binczak told the Business Journal.

The company was using an 80,000-square-foot warehouse on Parker Avenue and is looking to move into one of two warehouses near Blount Island in a radius between Heckscher Drive and Interstate-295.

Both of the warehouses under consideration are more than 200,000 square feet.

Global Conveyance handles cargo that mainly comes in through the Port of Jacksonville, with some shipments arriving in Miami and Savannah.

The cargo is trucked locally by Lia Transport Services, GCCG's in-house drayage provider.

The need for more space was driven by rapid growth in the amount of cargo GCCG is handling.

“We went from 67 containers to 167,” Binczak said. “So all because of our performance, we were rewarded with that volume. But because of that, we blew the walls out; we had no room to grow.”

Binczak said he expects to receive up to 8,000 containers — of various commodities — over the course of the coming year, with the cargo coming into Jacksonville, Miami and Port Everglades.

He expects to sign a lease for the new space by July 1.
