US passes 5 million solar installations, SEIA says
May 17, 2024 17:35 CESTUS distributed generation platform Aspen Power Partners said on Wednesday that, in partnership with a local developer, it is working on a deal to buy an initial portfolio of 20 community solar projects with a combined capacity of up to 19 MW.
The targeted projects, located primarily in the state of Illinois, are at different stages of development, including sites already under construction and ready to be commissioned as early as this year. The company noted in the press statement that it has partnered with Common Energy to subscribe and manage the projects.
With the addition of the Illinois portfolio, Aspen’s footprint will cover five states with community solar programmes, including Maine, New York, Maryland, and California. Overall, the company has developed or acquired hundreds of solar projects spanning 24 states.
Aspen was launched in 2021 and is backed by US private equity firm Carlyle. The company is targeting a gigawatt-scale portfolio by mid-decade.
Last month, the New York-based firm bought an over 41-MW DC portfolio of commercial solar projects in New York and Pennsylvania.
