Decarbonisation is essential if we are to keep the planet at a liveable temperature, but the energy transition also creates new market opportunities, explains Nicola Rossi, Head of Innovation at Enel Green Power and Thermal Generation.
Keeping ahead in renewable energy production
Enel Green Power & Thermal Generation (EGP&TGX) develops, builds, manages and decommissions, buys and sells energy production and storage plants and assets to support the energy transition worldwide. It manages more than 1,300 renewable power plants – solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal, biomass, storage – on five continents.

Enel Green Power is at the forefront of building and testing innovative solutions that aim to give a further boost to the energy transition process.
It uses Big Data and digital technologies to increase wind farm and solar panel efficiency; drones and robots to support dam and power plant operations and maintenance; and batteries to store on-demand clean energy with no waste. Renovating renewables isn’t just a play on words.
Enel Green Power states its challenge is to “stay at the forefront of technology. Not just follow market demand, but to create it by continually renovating the way we do things, always keeping our head in the game.”
