Lincoln County Commissioners extend wind and solar moratorium
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - For the last several years, Lincoln County has been under a county-wide moratorium for the development of commercial and or utility grade wind and solar energy conversion systems in the county. Monday, County Commissioners discussed an extension of that moratorium.
“This moratorium that we have put in place expires next week. We need to give serious consideration to this extension, it’s a nine-month extension from the 24th of April, giving us more than adequate time to get through the final phase now that we have a better idea of where Marvin Planning Consultants are in their process,“ said District Four Lincoln County Commissioner Chris Bruns.
Commissioner Bruns said the extension of the moratorium comes as Nebraska-based Marvin Planning Consultants prepares to conclude Lincoln County’s Comprehensive Plan. At the County’s request, the updated comprehensive plan will include additional in-depth information on potential wind and solar energy in Lincoln County.
