ENOC Group Recognised at Golden Peacock Awards for Sustainability Efforts

ENOC Group recently won the Golden Peacock Global Award for Sustainability (GPGAS) 2017, in recognition of the Group’s efforts in achieving excellence in sustainability performance and promoting sustainable development in the region.

Established in 1991 by the Institute of Directors (IOD), the Golden Peacock Awards for Corporate Leadership and Institutional Excellencies has been considered a benchmark of corporate excellence worldwide. The GPGAS was instituted to encourage organisations to embed sustainability initiatives within their operations.

As the first energy company in the Middle East to receive this award, ENOC Group was recognised for its wide range of environment-friendly initiatives, positive impact on its stakeholders and enhancing the happiness of its employees. The award encourages ENOC to further implement projects that will enhance energy efficiency measures.

His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO, ENOC, said: “We have taken conscious efforts to enhance energy and efficiency measures and drive sustainable development within our operations. Following our launch of the first UAE solar powered service station and our plans to include solar PV panels in all future service stations in Dubai, we hope to continue aligning with the UAE’s long-term strategy to meet the country’s smart and sustainable goals. Receiving the GPGAS reflects our continuous effort towards promoting the best practices in energy efficiency and sustainability.”

Across its retail network of 116 stations in the UAE, the Group has deployed a host of innovative initiatives that contribute to enhancing energy efficiency that contribute to enhancing energy efficiency such as the Vapour Recovery System (VR) - a process that almost avoids the gasoline vapour or other fuel emissions in petrol stations contributing to improved public health.

The Group’s several CSR initiatives have helped foster overall community development; such as, Dubai Municipality’s “World No Tobacco Day’ partnership by not selling tobacco products across all ENOC and EPPCO service stations, a collaboration with British University in Dubai to initiate the first Sustainability Summer School international trip and running a comprehensive yearly learning programme – ENOC Challenge – to provide individuals with special needs with a platform to learn about the necessary professional skills.

Among other initiatives, ENOC Group has piloted the supply of the new ‘Biodiesel5’ product in the UAE – a clean fuel produced from vegetable oil, waste cooking oil to lower emissions such as carbon dioxide, black smoke and unburnt hydrocarbons.

The GPGAS award has put ENOC in the hallmark of corporate excellence worldwide sharing the space with big names like IBM, Jones Lang LaSalle, Legrand, General Motors, Volkswagen, Coca-Cola, ONGC India, Monsanto, Marks and Spencer and The Walt Disney Company.
